Established in 1918 - Over a century of excellence
Chances are, you've landed here because you own either a vintage Fisher/Sanyo product or a Bluetooth Fisher Speaker, and you're seeking assistance. Let's delve into the fascinating history of the Fisher brand of electronics. However, it's important to note that the company we represent is not affiliated with the original Sanyo/Fisher company (which unfortunately is no longer in operation), nor the current Fisher company with speakers on Amazon. Here's a quick overview of their origins: Avery Fisher established the company in New York City in 1945, making it an American enterprise. Later, in 1969, Emerson Electric acquired the Fisher company and retained its renowned name.
In 1975 Emerson sold the Fisher brand to Sanyo Electric of Japan. This is when Fisher became a Japanese company and not American. After 1975 products were branded with either the Sanyo name or Fisher name. However, they were both manufactured by the same company Sanyo. In 2000, Sanyo dropped the Fisher name and only used Sanyo as the brand name of their electronics.
There was another significant shift in 2011 when Panasonic acquired the Sanyo company. Following this acquisition, Panasonic essentially phased out the Sanyo name and rebranded all Sanyo products under the Panasonic name. Additional information regarding this can also be accessed on Wikipedia.
This was during the time when there were owned by the original Avery Fisher, Emerson, and Sanyo Electric of Japan. After that things went downhill. Note that in 2000 Sanyo dropped the Fisher name, so what happened to that name? (see below) Our company has nothing to do with it.
We are a family-owned company, coincidentally sharing the name Fisher. Establishing our business back in 1918, we predated the existence of Fisher products, which were actually introduced in 1945 by Avery Fisher. It is important to note that we have no connection whatsoever with any Fisher or Sanyo products. We have never manufactured any of their products and maintain no support or association with them. To provide a more detailed account of the Fisher company's history, we have created a video which you can watch below.
Since around 2015 or so, there was a resurgence of Fisher bluetooth speakers, predominantly found on Amazon. These speakers, along with the esteemed Fisher brand, have been procured by Migear International. The official website for the current Fisher Speakers (as of December 2021) can be accessed at www.fishersound.com. Additionally, you may visit the website of their parent company, Migear, at www.migearintl.com. As you can see this is not the same Fisher company that started with Avery Fisher back in 1945.
In regards to our company, we want to clarify that we have absolutely no association with any Fisher or Sanyo product, regardless of its age. As we were not involved in the manufacturing process, we are unable to provide any support related to these brands. It is important to note that we are simply a family-owned company that coincidentally shares the name Fisher. We hope this explanation sheds some light on the matter and assists in directing you to the appropriate support channels for Fisher products.
