No Picture or Audio / Netflix Problems

No Picture or Audio & Sony Voice Search or Netflix does not work

I have No Picture when watching Cable or Satellite Channels

  • No picture symptoms can include "I see the information bar but the rest of my screen is black." (See the picture to the left)
  • No picture symptoms can also include a totally black screen, but you do have audio
Unplug your Cable or Satellite Box from Electricity.  Do not just turn it off and on again, instead find the electrical cord and unplug it from the electrical wall outlet.  After a couple minutes plug it back in and let it reboot.  On Cable boxes when you see the clock appear you will need to turn your Cable box back on. 

I have No Audio when watching Cable or Satellite Channels

  • No Audio Symptoms can include having a perfectly fine picture, & being able to change channels but having no Audio on any of the channels 
  • No Audio Symptoms can also still happen even if you turn on and off your Cable/Satellite box and TV
Unplug your Cable or Satellite Box from Electricity.  Do not just turn it off and on again, instead find the electrical cord and unplug it from the electrical wall outlet.  After a couple minutes plug it back in and let it reboot.  On Cable boxes when you see the clock appear you will need to turn your Cable box back on. 

The Sony Voice Search or Netflix does not work

  • Voice Search symptoms can include pushing the microphone button and not seeing any search bar on the TV, and also not seeing a red light above the microphone button
  • Voice Search symptoms can also include being able to talk to your TV but nothing appears in the search result
  • Netflix can include pushing the Netflix button but Netflix never loads
Unplug your TV from Electricity.  Do not just turn it off and on again, instead find your electrical cord and unplug it from the electrical wall outlet. After a couple minutes plug it back in and then turn on your TV.  See below to also check and update your TV Software.

Updating your TV Software

  • If your still having problems with your Voice Search it is always helpful to check and update your TV software
  • Follow the instructions below to manually check for a software update
Using the Black Sony TV remote that is labeled "Sony TV" at the bottom, press the Home button to bring up your main menu.  Scroll all the way to the bottom of the menu and then scroll to the right and select the Help Question mark icon.  Press the circle between the arrows to select the help menu

Selecting System Software Update

  • Now that you are in the Help menu you need to access System Software Update, follow the instructions below
When you access the help menu you will see Help with the Question mark Icon next to it.  Scroll to the bottom of the help menu using the down arrow. Near the bottom you will find "System Software Update".  Select this with the circle button between the arrows.  See below to now check for an update

  • In the system software update menu you can manually check for an update
When in the System Software Update menu there will only be two options. Select the first option of "Check for a system software update" by pressing the circle button between the arrows.  Your TV will then search for a software update.  If it finds an update it will ask you if you want to download this update.  Select yes to proceed with the update.
